Former Employee - Lead Instructor in San Jose, CA

    Pros

There was nothing good about this job

    Cons

My boss had no idea about the learning needs of 1st graders, and she was always looking over you shoulder for everything. For a company that promotes self-thinking and innovation, they don't allow for their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get feed back from your teachers about work conditions instead of just listening to camp directors. Spend more time in the classroom to judge teachers. Design a curriculum relevant to age groups. 1st graders should not be learning vocabulary like aerodynamics.

Wonderful place to work but requires a certain personality

Former Employee - Assistant Instructor, Galileo Summer Quest  in  Palo Alto, CA
Former Employee - Assistant Instructor, Galileo Summer Quest in Palo Alto, CA

    Pros

    - great senior leadership (watches out for you and can always be approached about any issues you may be having)
    - very pro-active at providing constructive feedback
    - welcoming team dynamic, always open to ideas
    - increased pay for each year you return
    - FUN!!!

    Cons

    - some of the curriculum needs more development so you end up spending extra time prepping it yourself
    - could be very dependent on which classes you teach and who your Lead Instructor is
    - you have to keep up the super energetic camp personality for 8 weeks, sometimes it can be really hard to do so

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the curriculum, make the changes that are suggested in the feedback employees give after each summer.
