Former Employee - Client Development Consultant in Chicago, IL
Former Employee - Client Development Consultant in Chicago, IL

I worked at Gallup as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Overall the people are smart and pleasant to be around. In the Chicago office, most people work from 9am-5:30pm with little travel, which is very rare within the consulting industry.

Cons

The company hasn't experienced as much growth as a lot of other consulting firms. You can receive outstanding performance reviews without being rewarded in compensation/bonuses/job security. The firm feels slightly "cult-like", and at times employees aggressively push their research and strength-based consulting products onto other employees and clients.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carefully examine employee incentives to ensure they are aligned with performance.

    Pros

Get to meet some cool folks and have opportunities to meet awesome high profile folks

    Cons

    Management, management, management.
Oh and ICE scores. I personally couldn't care less about your popularity tests, Gallup. I left high school many years ago.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please...PLEASE learn how to manage! If you want excellent performance, try getting your employees to actually like you and want to respect you. If you're not BFFs with your "go-to" or a family member, please pack your bags!

I have been working at Gallup full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some flexibility in work schedule but almost all gone now.

    Cons

Run away, they do not want your opinions, they do not care about anyone, they do not have real "engagement", only forced. Always taking advantage of their overworked, underpaid employees and too many "required" not paid for meetings, feedback and requirements that are part of the job again not paid for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, they think they are superior and know everything.
