I have been working at GameStop

Pros

-Check out games
- The two I have worked at I have great management.
- Do your job well and you will be rewarded
- Co-Workers are great and so are customers
- Dress is very relaxed

Cons

-low hours when your a Game Advisor
-Lines get long due to stores only having two registers
-some customers are idiots

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out a way to allow your GA's to work more than a 3 or 4 hour shift as it is hard to stick with a job that has such short shifts. Having few hours is not a problem, Just work two jobs.

Too many Gamestops in one area make too much competition for each store.

I have been working at GameStop

    Pros

Discounts on games and accessories. GAs can work their way up fairly quickly if they can sell pre-orders and PUR cards. Decent hours if not a GA. Borrowing games for a few days that you'd like to try.

    Cons

There are very limited hours for GA employees. Performance based almost solely on selling pre-orders and PUR cards. These numbers are tracked every day for every store. If someone cancels a pre-order, it counts against who ever happened to take the cancel, instead of who sold the pre-order in the first place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give some incentive for selling pre-orders and the cards. They say it's a sales job, yet offer no incentive to do well.

    I worked at GameStop

    Pros

Check out pre-owned games to play.

    Cons

Horrible pay. Lack of advancement once you reach SM. Promoted based on #s/friendship with DM and not work ethic. SM made to work a lot more hours than required to save company money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either pay your employees more money or not force management to work crazy hours. SM pay pretty much breaks down to around 11 per hour based of # of hours you work a week. Stop being so cheap! Profits are so high but money only goes back to top management.
