I have been working at GameStop part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great if you are a gamer, geek, nerd and etc; or if you just love working with the public. Many customers are ALWAYS at the store, so it is very easy to get to know people.

    Cons

Horrible scheduling practices, hard driving managers, sometimes co-workers can be pretty wierd, pay is WACK! (usually minimum wage, unless you are hired on as a supervisor, and even then its only a few dollars more than minimum wage)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the work environment more enjoyable; get more control over the scedule...

I worked at GameStop full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun working environment. You get paid to talk about video games with people.
    Nice employee discount.
Benefits for both full and part time employees are very good.
Game check out program saves you a lot of money and makes it so you can know your product better.
The company does it's best to evolve with the industry.
If you work hard, and follow policy, you will get promoted.

    Cons

Very high pressure sales. Not a good place to work if you can't handle this.
Unless you are management, chances are you won't be steadily employed. Very little hours are available to go around to part timers.
For the type of performance they want, they really do pay very little.
Fairly high turnover rate in management.
Inconsistent employee coaching system - seems very arbitrary at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer actual incentives to employees for sales performance.
A better management training system would help prevent the extremely high turnover rate in that area.
Better pay for store managers may help you retain more quality people.
