Pros

If your a gamer you'll be able to rent games every four days and the discount is not that bad.

Cons

The best way to put it is your like a lemon and they are trying to squeeze every drop out of you. Very stressful.

Advice to Management

Employees need to focus more on customer service and repeat business then on the unreachable daily goals.

It's a job. Not as much fun as you would think.

    Pros

The people. The staff and management can be fun to work with. If you are into video games it is nice to be in the know. A wide range of customers to interact with.

    Cons

High pressure sales with no commission. Low pay and high stress sales environment. Not a lot of room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your hourly employees. Don't push the Cards and Resos so hard, it turns people off.

    Pros

Straightforward work, pays less than fast food but your work days aren't bad. If you are competent, you can be promoted rapidly because there is a high turnover of employees. You could be a keyholder within 6 months- 1 year, an assistant manager within 2 years, store manager within 3-5 years. The only problem with that is that retail game sales may or may not have a future, it's impossible to tell in the digital age.
The overall work day can be a busy retail environment or bored talking to coworkers. Probably not unlike most retail jobs. Customers are often friendly and talkative, likely more so than at a Wal-Mart or something like that. You'll also regularly score swag from sales reps and excess pre-order bonuses.
You could "rent" any game, nearly indefinitely if there are several in stock.

    Cons

Must push magazine subscriptions on customers.
    Must push pre-orders on customers.
A monthly 20-30 minute video is played continually, it will eventually get on your nerves.
Dealing with the occasional irrationally upset customer.
The storage area and restroom is not likely kept well due to lazy employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't sell opened games used for "wall displays" as brand new. Especially when you rent them out to employees.
