    Pros

Company tends to give great opportunities for young untrained management to step into the world of retail. Free software and occasional hardware, great ability to try new games for free, if you are a gamer some of the pros may help to drive you through long weeks. Yearly conference for store managers is generally an enjoyable experience.

    Cons

Salary generally far below other retail companies. Company has taken to extreme micromanaging lately. Incredibly quick turnover on store managers. To stay compliant on most of the required tasks and micromanagement expect to put in work weeks exceeding 70 hours fairly often. I will not hold lack of payroll against this company as that is a common problem in all retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some truly briliant minds leading this company and I have never seen a more didcated work force, there is an astronomical disconnected with upper management (VP, CEO, PRES) and field management I would say starting at a regional level if not Market. There are actions being taken to correct some of this and I think the company knows this problem is there, however they are going to loose far to many good employees if they take too long to fix it.

    Pros

None that aren't eclipsed by the horrible cons.

    Cons

Pay sucks, and no payroll to give you even if the wage didn't suck since corporate has both hands and a foot holding onto the money. No payroll because the company is greedy with its dwindling profits, no recognition that cannot be crushed as little as a day later, two-faced culture, unrealistic demands, constant pressure to be as harassing as possible to every poor soul that enters FORCING you to appear as a VERY hungry/determined prostitute on a street corner. The job can be so rewarding but the vampires at regional level are only concerned with their ridiculous bonuses and power trips.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being the typical greedy vampires that corporate America is being destroyed by. Stop being hypocrites and actually care more about your fellow employees instead of just focusing on who can manipulate the numbers enough to make you look good today/this week. Stop promoting retarded record store nerds and focus on people that have actually been in the trenches and know how things really work.
