Pros

GameStop truly wants to promote from within. They commit to your growth just so long as you commit to excellent standards of customer service, dependability, and honesty.

Cons

The pay rates are not very competitive. As a manager with several years of experience with the company my base salary was 28K. This figure does not reflect bonus, however, if you are in a low volume store or have demographics that set you back in comparison to "big spender" stores, you will suffer in this area.

Advice to Management

Increase the perks that you give to your employees. Many large companies are making progressive leaps in this area; increased pay, health benefits for part-timers, stock options, etc. Bolstering your talent can only help foster a better retention rate and help to improve overall service in an industry where storefronts are struggling.

    Pros

    - Discounts on certain items.
    - Cool swag to take.
    - Overtime (If lucky).

    Cons

    - Lack of consistent hours for part and full-time employees after post season, sooooo you will be put on call for more than 10 weeks.
    - Can not keep any promise(s) to ANY employee, including store managers where they put all their blood, sweat, tears, and effort into the company and store.
    - District and/or Regional Manager(s) cuts hours to the store for no reason. Even IF that specific store got the right amount of pro cards (both renewal and new) and reserves for any game.

    Advice to Management

(From the Regional Manager all the way up to Raines:) PLEASE change the business model! The marketing and pricing is so skewed to the point both employees and customers question it because of the unfair nature of it depending on the game. And where I worked at I could've had more than the required amount of people signing up for the pro card but the problem with that was THEY WERE CANADIANS!! You have no idea how frustrating that is.
