I worked at Games Workshop

Pros

Pay and benefits for managers is great!

Cons

Us management has no retail background and cares little about people. Doesn't view turnover as an issue and thinks employees are disposable.

I have been working at Games Workshop full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The position is challenging, but the work you put into the job is returned by what you get out of the position. There are operators that fail but they just don't understand the amount of focus, hard work and good attitude it takes to be successful. There is currently around 90 stores. There are 4 regional managers and 5-6 trainer positions. That requires you to be one of the best to move into those roles. But the company will take care of you if you put the business first.

This position is highly rewarding for those with the courage and stamina to stay the course. Your salary is base in merit. It goes up every year as long as your growing your store. If you grow your store you get a percentage of that as a bonus. You set your own goals and the company will hold you accountable to those goals. Also the company's benefits are one of the best I have ever had.

It's there best way to run your own business without having to fund it yourself.

    Cons

It can be hard to see good people fail. But when your the only employee in your store their is no one to blame but yourself.

Could be a rewarding job if upper management didn't change every year and a half.

    Pros

    Unique products and decent benefits.

    Cons

No real intrest in allowing for employees to move up the corporate ladder. I saw many very loyal and talented employees burned out or get fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have some respect for your employees, your turnover rate speaks for itself. Stick with a plan for more than a year.
