Pros

Employee discount, working with like minded people, great if you like the outdoors and talking to customers about outdoor activities.

Cons

Pay not near what other companies pay for same type of jobs
No real training programs for employees, all online training

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to focus on employees to keep them with the company.
Not have employees focus on selling add on insurance and credit cards.
Offer training for employees who want to move up within the company and show they matter so they don't leave

Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Gander Mountain full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Only one that I can think of is the 3.5 discount.

    Cons

    Leadership, no internal advancement opportunities.
If you want to spend your entire career being threatened by not getting enough Protection Plans, credit cards, or Summit plans then this is the job for you. Its not about going in and doing a great job taking care of the customer and making the shopping enviornment a great experiance for the customer, its all about how many of those "benefits" listed above you can sell. Comission sales are coming to all stores. Pay cuts, and more threats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit. This company has been failing for a very lont time. Senior leadership is a joke.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at Gander Mountain

    Pros

It's a hobby store, so most of the people you work with and customers are happy to be there, or at least have a passion for something in the store.

    Cons

Retail level can be boring and mundane.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More positive encouragement when a job is done well.
