Pros

I worked as a copy editor for Gannett for almost two years. The pay was decent, the work was fine, but the hours and environment were pretty bad. The newsroom had been decimated by three rounds of layoffs - I was caught up in the fourth round. Everyone was frustrated and trying to do the work of several people. It was just a depressing place to work. The pros - good benefits, good company name.

Cons

Terrible hours, depressing work environment. The whole company was kind of in a tailspin. We received a chipper little email from Craig Dubow telling us how things were turning around...exactly one week before the fourth round of layoffs.

Advice to Senior Management

Get the company together, quit flying the executives to "retreats" in private jets, and cut down on the double-talk.
