Results are ultimately king, promotion based on results only is perhaps a little dangerous.
Some analaysts arrogance

Advice to ManagementAdvice

At some level (RVP or above, should take responsibility, i.e they should be the ones demonstrating leadership when split deals, M&A's etc are in discussion, not as is sometimes the case it is left for an AM to "Negotiate" the rules.

I have been working at Gartner full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Huge learning opportunities - both tech and biz
    - Great sales methodology
    - Top earners do pretty well
    - Great environment
    - Awesome platform into the tech world (and a higher salary)

    Cons

    - Until you hit accelerators, salary is below industry standard
    - Activity level is not for everyone
    - Location of EMEA office
    - Some of the management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Middle management:

    - As soon as you make it about you, you will lose the attention of most sales execs. Remind them how important it is to them to hit their numbers.
    - Invest time in learning what it takes to be a leader, not a manager. Your role is 40% coaching - please don't forget this.
    - MAKE SURE YOUR AE's WRITE BUSINESS WITH INTEGRITY!!!! Our reputation is everything.

I have been working at Gartner full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are always learning, working with friendly and intelligent people, great benefits, fun and fast-paced work environment, good salaries, great brand, specialized products and services

    Cons

The fast-paced environment can make daily life extremely stressful if you aren't part of a good team with a great coach/leader. Some office cultures are not as friendly as others. Many employees outside of CT work remotely and may feel disconnected from bigger company culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue encouraging a positive work environment, collaboration and rewards/recognition programs for all functions. Make sure company vision, goals and objectives are shared with employees outside of HQ. It's easy for employees in remote locations and sites outside of CT to not feel like part of the bigger company culture.
