I worked at Geek Squad full-time for more than a year

Pros

Self motivated position, every day different, loads of different problems to deal with, mostly the ones cpw have created, a job not for the faint hearted

Cons

Cpw's ability to take the original idea of the geek squad and turn us from our true calling to glorified insurance promoters and unpaid management individuals

    Good team, growth oppertunities. Oppertunity to work with a lot of different people, and learn new skills but...

    Cons

    Lack of training. Management pushes sales over good customer service or even good repairs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good, well trained employees would allow for much better customer retention.

    I worked at Geek Squad part-time

    Pros

    Great culture. Management doesn't micromanage, but is technically proficient enough to help out when needed. All the tools to do the job are provided. Good learning opportunities if you are new to the field.

    Cons

    Amount of hours available for work is based on sales. Sometimes the tools we are required to use aren't the best. Best Buy usually backs their employees up, but sometimes when a manager makes an exception for a client, you look foolish in front of them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Create incentives to get these techs certified! It helps them and brings value to the services provided.
