Was a great company, but culture is changing after acquisition

    I worked at Genentech

    Pros

Genentech was a wonderful company to work when it was still Genentech. It had an excellent mission, creating treatments for patient's unmet medical needs, and there was great dedication to patients. My peers were first class people and peers and very team oriented.

    Cons

As the company grew there was a struggle to maintain its original and unique culture, especially ay the middle management level, which tended to be transitional. After the recent acquisition, by Roche, there was a distinct change in culture - not necessarily a bad culture, but more hierarchical , less agile and open. However, there is still the same dedication to patients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think you are still working through the integration of the two companies, and as you're doing so, you're losing the momentum and dedication of the employees. With that, you risk losing the reason that Genentech was acquired in the first place. Get to one company with a mission that everyone can rally around as quickly as possible.
