Look outside your franchise when hiring to expand depth and diversity of ideas/experience. There is alot of talent within the organization, including those recently laid off.

    Pros

Good benefits though that seems to be changing every year since Roche took over the finances.

    Cons

Lets see where to I begin.... New people are being hired with less experience and brought in at higher positions yet the people that have been with the company for years with a lot of experience aren't getting promoted. Not a good place to work if you are black!! Racism is rampant and promotions are only for those who are friends with the manager. I have seen many people get promoted after one year and others work hard for years and get nothing. If the economy was any better I can certainly see a lot of qualified hard working people leaving the company. Not a good place to work at all. Its a struggle to go to work everyday. Too many politics and BS in this company!!!

    Advice to Management

Management needs to read these boards!! Internal hires should not be based on who likes who rather should be who is more qualified. All this favoritism is bringing this company down.

  2. Low morale, but still helping patients!

    Pros

Fair wages, great benefits -- you can feel good about yourself working here! Mid level managers still seem to care about what's going on.

    Cons

It's a struggle. Rules are getting more stringent. More perks being taken away. Morale is suffering. Intensified feeling that senior management is either incompetent, doesn't care, or both. "Best places to work" billboard on 101 was put up the day after massive layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees. Read the comments on the intranet. This can still be a great place to work. Stop putting billboards up, especially when they feature someone you laid off the day before. Start promoting people based on merit, not politics.
