I have been working at Genentech full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work-life balance
    Personal Excellence Program
Company buses to several regions in bayarea

    Cons

Too many politics. No focus on patients or customers. Everybody is for their own. Too depressed staff due to several rounds of reorganization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a grip. Saving money isn't everything. Provide value to business by innovation. In the business we are in, saving a few dollars isn't going to make a difference compared to the immense potential new investments can make.

Former Employee - Technician in South San Francisco, CA

I worked at Genentech full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Entrepreneurial, focus on patients and well-being of the employees. Work-life balance is rest assured unless you work on tech transfer projects. Opportunity to grow in the company is massive, especially after Roche took over

    Cons

Unless you are in research and development, there is not much autonomy given. If you are persuasive enough, you can be granted side projects, which makes work would be much more interesting. As the company becomes bigger, bureaucracy is increasing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To perform more rigorous talent review and rewards those who truly add value
