I have been working at General Dynamics C4 Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

New management from the bigger umbrella (C4S)... may be the change needed to create a more efficient organization.. which means more business... more likely to keep your job.

    Cons

Technicians are treated like manufacturing operators from the days of old. Core hours 9-4. Specified break time and lunch time. Personal conversations should never take place in the lab.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not alienate your experienced people. The economy may actually get better someday.

I have been working at General Dynamics C4 Systems (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay and benefits were pretty good until recent cutbacks (partially due to military cuts and a generally "down" economy). The work can be interesting and challenging.

    Cons

A lot of bad management decisions have been buffered by the ridiculous profit margins that defense contracts often have. As the government becomes more fiscally responsible, this problem will need to be addressed. These bad decisions often result in missed opportunities or more work for those at the bottom of the food chain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adopt a more flexible and quick-response approach to meeting military needs, instead of the archaic process currently in place. Focus on really meeting the end user's needs first and foremost.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
