I have been working at General Networks Corporation

Pros

Great opportunities to learn and work on a variety of development and application platforms, have big and complex deployments, lots of hands-on training, great team players, good performance compensation, have long-term relationships with customers so there's good relatoins with clients, but then you tend to get dedicated to customers.

Cons

Benefits are very basic, absense of formal training programs (mostly hands-on and mentoring), low base salaries (decent bonus packages), limited to MS SharePoint and Open Text vendors for content management, high expectations for technical performance but you have be highly motivated to succeed at this company.

I have been working at General Networks Corporation

    Pros

Very smart senior consultants. Diversity of technical platforms, development environments, and client environments. Not much out-of-town travel. Did pretty well during the recession. Company is employee owned (ESOP).

Entrepreneurial culture. Great place for people who take initiative. Compensation increases come pretty fast (typically six months) for the ones who work hard. Good opportunities to take on new technical and management challenges.

Don't see much internal politics. Because the company is employee owned, financials are pretty transparent.

Clients vary quite a bit, from complex enterprise deployments to small departmental ones. Clients are very loyal to the company.

    Cons

Not a good place for people who want a lot of direction and hand holding. Management team is too lean. Benefits package is mediocre. Work hours can be intense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more structured training programs. Need more people.
