Genesco – “Casual work environment with below-average pay.”

Casual environment that encouraged diversity and self expression. You get to deal with lots of different kinds of people, which helps to break up the monotony. Obviously the busy shopping seasons (Black Friday, Christmas, etc) give you the opportunity to make some decent paychecks, but those are offset by the slower seasons when paychecks can get quite discouraging.
Cons
Unless you're a store manager, the pay is quite frankly horrible. It's heavily commission-based, although some of your duties will include work that takes you off of the sales floor. I think it's just the way that compensation is structured, something that is out of control, for the most part, of the hiring manager. When I worked there, there was a ceiling of $180 per week salary + a small % of your sales. Do the math and realize that you're not making much.
Advice to Senior Management
More periodic feedback from a performance standpoint would help motivate store workers to achieve their goals.
