    Pros

Autonomous work environment. Employees with a lot of compassion. Dedicated to the care of others.

    Cons

Somewhat decentralized. Corporate has to work hard to influence facilities in a quick and meaningful way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The mission of Genesis is a key driver for those in leadership roles. When management stays focused on the mission, it's easy to motivate employees and ultimately make a difference in the lives of others.

    Current Employee - Occupational Therapist

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Therapist are a great group of hard working individuals. Excellent on line resources especially continuing education for free to part-time and full time employees (not PRN)

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations for productivity causing therapist to struggle with ethical issues. Most "clock out" to look more productive while catching up on paperwork. Program Managers who "RUG" patients at unrealistic levels for financial gains without consulting with the treating therapist due to constant pressure from middle managment.
They are now only hiring at 30 hours with the expectation that they will reduce everyone's hours to 30.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on clinical excellence and the revenue will come and your reputation will grow. As it is now, I know of very few people satisfied as a therapist or program manager at Genesis and dozen of people unhappy with the overall management and clinical oversight.

    Negative Outlook
