I worked at Gensler as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Gensler's office culture is very collaborative, and the company has strong values in sustainability, innovation, and high-quality work.

Cons

Since it is such a huge company, it can be difficult to network if you're in one of the big offices and between offices. Sometimes seemed a little isolated.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would establish a strong internship program.

Worst experience in my design career at San Jose office

I worked at Gensler full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good staff. Developed a strong bond with general staff who are in the same boat (overworked & under-paid) to mock the sub-par upper management.

    Cons

Leadership cares zero for the well-being of their employees and 100% on how much profit they make. This place is nothing more than a sweatshop in silicon valley that stamps out mediocre office design.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"There are leaders and there are those who lead. Leaders hold a position of power or influence. Those who lead inspire us. We follow those who lead not because we have to, but because we want to. We follow those who lead not for them, but for ourselves."

All I can say is the Gensler San Jose office only has un-influential leaders who only talk about being innovative and nothing more. Please take care of your people first, profit will fall naturally.
