Numerous advancement opportunities with a extremely friendly staff.

The hours vary just like any other manufacture. This makes it hard to plan outings without using vacation time. This is typical of any auto manufacture.

There are many reasons to work at Gentex...but pay is not one of them.

Current Employee - Mechanical Engineer  in  Zeeland, MI
Current Employee - Mechanical Engineer in Zeeland, MI

    Pros

    Nice facilities
Up to date technology and computer systems
    Overall a comfortable environment

    Cons

Mechanical engineering takes a back seat to other disciplines like software and electrical, because the mechanical side of the product is not the core IP. This results in a significantly lower base salary. In general, salary is low compared to equivalent companies, and Gentex tries to make up for that with profit sharing but doesn't quite get there. The ME work I found quite boring, and I saw my job turning into a CAD designer.
Lastly, I wonder about the legality of the interview questions. An example, "Do you feel you had a normal childhood". Hmmmm.

    No opinion of CEO
