Pros

Close proximity to where I live

Cons

Field staff (nurses and therapists) are not allowed to report their actual mileage for reimbursement - the company uses the patients addresses to figure how much they will reimburse the employee- in rural areas where the mapquest is not accurate this leads to employees not being paid their full mileage. Field staff only get their full paycheck if they meet their weekly quota. If they are short because the office did not have enough patients they are still docked pay even if they were available for work but the office could not provide enough patients for all staff to meet their quota. Everything is stacked so that Gentiva wins and employees lose. Insurance goes up in price and down in benefits - non-medical office staff can't afford the insurance. Job desciptions are just words on paper, you are required to do whatever they tell you to do whenever they tell you. Upper management micromanages those under them. Salaried employees have to work over time but do not get comp time and if they want to leave an hour early on a week that they have already 45 hours they are required to use 4 hours of PTO for that one hour off. This year I received a bonus because I am in management but no field employees even received a raise. They were told because of the economy Gentiva could not afford raises - and yet management gets bonuses.

Advice to Management

If you want quality employees you have to reward them fairly and respect them as people.
