I have been working at Gentiva full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Mostly laid back environment, most of the staff nice to work with, good training period, friendly supervisors

Cons

Too much micro-management from regional offices, not enough importance placed on the patient more concerned with reimbursement rates

Advice to Management

The patient should be the priority...if you don't have patients...you're out of business

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Gentiva full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fair salary and good benefits were pro's. The fact that at one time i had a supervisor who was bright and competent and cared enough about to help me grown from a professional perspective.

    Cons

Believe me, you'll never feel like anyone from a Regional level and beyond cares about you, because they don't. Don't be swayed by the company DVD's that the branch plays so you can hear from the CEO and service line President telling you how much they care about you and how patient care is the number one priority. Suits dressed up for the camera, it's all pomp and circumstance, you're just a number and very expendable, of this you can be assured. Many of the company leaders who cared and were competent are no longer with the company and have been replaced by Senior Leadership personnel who are arrogant and uncaring and of course they have brought in all their cronies who they worked with at other agencies which equals a lose/lose situation because they are all like minded and each others best friend. You'll never stand a chance against those who are only for each other instead of the greater good for the company. Take it from me, when you're a manager and you stand up for your people and for what's right instead of shaking your head in agreement with everything Senior Leadership says......consider yourself GONE. Also worth noting is that Gentiva puts millions of dollars into technology that continues to be an epic fail. First, they went from paper charting to LifeSmart which was a nightmare and now they've moved on to to their own GentivaLink which is as substandard as the first attempt to go to EMR's. Come on folks, stop being constrained by your old Unity DOS system and get with some software vendors who actually know what they're doing. Turnover rate is astronomically high and you won't be offered an exit interview. Seriously, they just really could care less!!!

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look at the good people who are no longer with this organization. Your talented employees have moved on to work for your competitors and there's a reason for that. It's not okay to hire people in leadership roles who are your buddy's and for them to hire their buddy's and on and on. It's clear that employee satisfaction and retention is not a priority, and it should be. You've lost your way, operationally as well as clinically. Fix what's broken and your shareholders and employees will be a lot happier. Remember, there was a time when both were satisfied.
