I worked at Gentiva full-time for more than a year

Pros

Rapport with patients/families; flexibility of schedule; not stuck in an office all day.

Cons

Hard to be productive due to number of staff meetings and distractions from chatty coworkers; no private office space for phone calls, etc.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a day in the shoes of the clinical staff!!

I worked at Gentiva as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Information learned was very valuable for HR career.

    Cons

Too much turnover and confusion of benefits for staff to administer and understand. Technology vendors hired were not competitive for this department's needs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit blaming the contract staff for all of your fulltime employee's past mistakes. 2007-2008 contract employment.

I have been working at Gentiva full-time

    Pros

Branch finally moved to computer based charting.

    Cons

The branch director does not listen well, makes quick decisions and is very inflexible. High clinician turnovers, mostly skilled PTs.There is a high expectation of maintaining productivity when referrals are up but no support during the lean times. mgmt refuses time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please learn how to lead rather than simply manage. This branch is in a toxic melt down, is losing employees and upper management at Gentiva appears to be asleep and unaware of the prolblem.

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
