I have been working at George Mason University part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great hours
Friendly professors
Good location as it is hidden in the suburbs.
Food options available, with plenty of coffee

Cons

Parking is just the worst, no way to get around that
Traffic is always a nightmare
You have to deal with college kids, but it is a university so you should know that already

Advice to ManagementAdvice

A discount of parking to those who are EMPLOYED there, would go a long way

I worked at George Mason University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pleasant work environment. Growing institution with many new buildings. There are some world-class faculty members, and has aspirations of growing from regional university into a world-class research institution ...

    Cons

... but sometimes does not seem to have the institutional knowledge and procedures needed to implement these goals effectively. Training is uneven; some people are extremely knowledgeable, others are less so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

GMU has grown a lot, and has a lot of potential. However, some of its operational procedures seem to be simply scaled-up versions of the ones used when the school was much smaller and locally-focused. This does not always work well in an institution with national and international aspirations.
