    Pros

    Free housing a big plus, stipend provides nice supplemental income while in grad school, proximity to campus.

    Cons

    Working with the magoos in housing is challenging.

    I have been working at George Washington University

    Pros

    - Excellent opportunity to affect student life
    - Great opportunity to gain experience in advising and teaching
    - A relaxed and supportive work environment

    Cons

    - Salary is not market competitive or livable for the DC area
    - Lack of communication and sharing of information
    - Too many Directors, Managers, and other middle-management
    - There are too many silos within the system, leading to lack of collaboration and innovation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay attention to people and their skills, you could be doing a lot more if you recognize the abilities of those already employed by the University.
