I have been working at George Washington University

    Pros

Educational benefits, semi-casual environment, vibrant location, young and friendly university environment. Good place to work to obtain an advanced degree for almost free.

    Cons

Upper management seems to coddle faculty. Upper management should back up research coordinators in enforcing grants/ contracts rules and regulations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should back up research coordinators in enforcing grants/ contracts rules and regulations. They should maybe consider introducing compressed work week schedules as a benefit.

I have been working at George Washington University

    Pros

I enjoy working at GW because of where its located. Convenient to so many places in DC and right off of the orange line on Metro, it's not difficult getting to work. I enjoy working with my professional colleagues who know their career field very well and communicate their passion and enthusiasm to students.

    Cons

The negatives are that there is not much movement in leadership and so things can be somewhat stale - i.e., we do things this way because we've always done them this way. There's a reticence to try new things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take some risks. Try some new ideas. Don't be afraid to fail; we might succeed and move forward with an idea!
