I worked at Georgetown University part-time (less than a year)

Pros

Got to do research for a high profile professor and be involved in an interesting project; the pay was pretty good.

Cons

The bureaucracy of such a large organization can be hard to deal with - filing paperwork, setting up direct deposits, getting tax information, etc.

    I have been working at Georgetown University part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Very flexible with schedules.
    Generous pay for part-time student work.
    Management was very nice and understanding.

    Cons

    Sometimes had to work as early as 5:00 am.
    Not a job with career advancement opportunities.

    Be a little clearer in giving instructions and in giving procedures.

    I have been working at Georgetown University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Fantastic benefits - full tuition coverage, retirement contributions
    Quiet summers and lots of holidays
    Nice people

    Cons

    Repetitive schedule - same tasks are completed on the same cycle throughout the year
    Minimal promotion potential - no where to advance to without switching departments
    Low pay - minimal merit increases annually as well
    Outdated administration procedures
    Inefficient resolution of problems (large and small)
