I have been working at Georgetown University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Georgetown has great retirement benefits, they will match up to 7% by just allocating 3% of your salary to the plan. You are also eligible for free tuition after 1 year of work as long as you get into a program

    Cons

Georgetown has a 2 class system of employees; those that have to follow rules and protocol (staff) and faculty who are allowed to be rude, break rules, and in some instances Georgetown will even cover when the law is broken by faculty members.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all employees equally, publish the rules of the game (reimbursements, travel, professional behavior), and make one set of rules for everyone. Stop making decision on cost basis only and make more decisions based on value added.

I worked at Georgetown University full-time

    Pros

Its great working with the participants and conducting research.

    Cons

The project investigator is an enabler. The project director is an ineffective leader and is incapable of making decisions. Sadly, there is a hierarchy in the office. If you are faculty you are treated with the utmost respect and if you are staff, sorry you are insignificant. There is not "I" in Team. No advancement opportunities or raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The supervisors need to take a course on how to be an effective/fair leader in the workplace.
