Pros

Georgia-Pacific has many divisions in the Atlanta, GA headquarters which offers career advancement opportunities with a variety of job functions. The Koch philosophy of conducting business is excellent and provides an expeditious means of making business decisions. Reasonably good working environment; pay is adequate;

Cons

Since G-P went private after the Koch acquisition, the company has gone through many cost saving initiatives at the HQ in Atlanta. There have been many waves of layoffs; bonus plans discontinued; pension plans cut. Employees with seniority particularly at risk because of higher salaries and pension plan benefits. Bonus plans based on profit improvement appear to be difficult to obtain, I don't know anyone who has earned one. Although 40 hours is the official salaried work week, there is an unwritten expectation that overtime is expected.

Advice to Senior Management

Offer more life enrichment programs or incentives; work should be fun but is stressful and requires balance.
