Pros

Georgia Tech provides you with whatever you need, helps you balance work and study.

Cons

The pay isn't as high as it could really be but that's expected for a research assistant's job.

Advice to Management

Offer more events for employees to network among themselves and get to know people from different departments so that they can further their careers and make new connections.

    Pros

It's a fairly large organization, so it's easy to find people with similar interests and knowledge base to discuss and resolve problems. It's a great place to learn new skills and diversify, however sometimes it does not match with the current industry trends.

    Cons

As a state institution everything has to go out to bid, so our own expertise is never utilized when making decisions or implementing solutions within the organization.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to listen through the managers. Technology changes so quickly that it is difficult for managers to keep up. The people down in the trenches know the current trends. But beware of those who say they have done something; make sure to follow up with their peers to check the facts.

  2. Helpful (1)

Lack of support from Supervisory, Management and does not exist from upper management

    Pros

Students, good education. Staff are nice and really work hard for the students. Students are awesome, focused - many will do great things.

    Cons

No raises!! Supervisors and directors only interested in their own salaries, no support for increases in salary or job responsibilities except for those reporting to VP and of course upper management. GT constantly Adding positions and bringing in outsiders. GT has added more administrators with six figure income than any institution-does not reward those on the front lines.
No interest in helping staff move forward-most seem to want to discourage you from anything. Moral very low-focus on only those in academic area-Non academic area very low pay except for directors and VP or those who do the work for the VP.

    Advice to Management

Please get your head out of the sand and look at what your professional staff make. Can you make it on less than 50K-Current salary below market while directors above market. Human Resources suggest to employees the look for a job at Emory or another school.
