Pros

Staff and faculty strive for excellence as a university, benefits are top notch, students are highly motivated, facillities and location are superior. Atlanta is an exciting city to live in. Work/ life balance is attainable.

Cons

Salary does not compare to industry jobs, Some managers are not willing to address problem employees. There is a pretty wide talent difference from area to area.

Advice to Management

Find a great replacement for President Clough who is leaving to head the Smithsonian Institute.

  1. Just another Federal Funded waste and spend organization - just a lot smarter making it look good to taxpayers

    Pros

At GTRI you learn a great deal about how the federal funding dictates the activities of the majority of efforts undertaken there. The upside is one sees how the federal government and civilian live are two different realms.

    Cons

The culture is one of intellectual elitism and what and how many degrees you have will place you in the pecking order. Real world experience carries no water there - if you do not have an advanced degree you are but someone to tolerant.

    Advice to Management

Be the think tank that creates forward thinking and one that looks out for the tax payers as opposed to being a federal tax waste and spend organization

    Pros

It's a state job. This means somewhat decent benefits and you get most major holidays off.

    Cons

This is specific to the College of Computing: the Dean and his cabinet have NO IDEA of how business is really executed at the college. There is a lot of shifting money around and other suspicious activity financially. Not to mention that the IT department at the College of Computing is the worst in the whole University. They are known by the central OIT and other groups as the College of Compromises because they get compromised (hacked) so much.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a total removal/replacement of senior management.
