Gilead Sciences Manager:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Small company, stable employment, multiple interesting projects, great colleagues, good place to gain valuable experience, fast pace, low bureaucracy. Decision making is very fast and employees are allowed to react at the same pace. Gilead, due to it's commercial success, has a very good reputation in the industry and is a definite positive to have on your resume.

Cons

Unreasonable work hours, low base pay, little room for advancement, disconnected arrogant uncaring management. Very high barriers exist for moving between departments. Overall, Gilead is a good place to start or transition your career (i.e. gain experience), but not a company you would want to stay long term.

Advice to Senior Management

Stop the directors and VPs from repeatedly telling employees that they don't matter because they're easily replaceable with the difficult pharmaceutical job market - it severely negatively impacts morale and employee retention.
