I worked at Gilead Sciences (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Products make a difference every day to people's lives. The San Dimas site is small so you get exposure to everything. Opportunities are there for growth at the lower levels but there is not much room at the top.

    Cons

The pace is fast which makes work life balance difficult. Management expects results and is particular on how you achieve those results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some good good people and follow through with your commitments.

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The stock is performing well and will most likely continue to do so. Convenient access for commuters on the Peninsula.

    Cons

Middle management is a joke. Sr. Mgt has no idea what is actually going on below their level. There is a big push in HR to obtain new talent so I find it interesting that the positive posts are all by directors or sr. level positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find out what the middle management is actually doing. Are they working or are they socializing? Are they delegating so much that their direct reports are doing all of the work and getting none of the credit for the timely deliverables?? Employees are burned out quickly. If you figure out how to reduce this you might salvage some employees.
