Pros

Complex and challenging work
Intelligent and talented colleagues to work with and learn from
Strong corporate culture in Finance
Ample opportunities to climb the career ladder, if you so desire

Cons

Difficult to transfer quickly to opportunities in the US, because of the 18 month rule.
Some employees are '100% fat' ie. they give little value to GSK. If GSK was to make these employees redundant, they would most likely not find employment at the renumeration level they were on and would struggle to sell themselves in the wider job market.

Advice to Management

Review how much fat you have in the organisation and take affirmative steps to cut it out of the company.

  1. Helpful (1)

Talented people to work with, but opportunities for career advancement are very slim.

    Pros

Talented people, both leaders and colleagues. Empowerment culture is settling

    Cons

Very little opportunites for career advancement - huge bottleneck as you climb up the ladder. Besides, it's unclear what are the rules to advance, and talent management is pretty much a mistery.

    Advice to Management

GSK used to be a fantastic place to work, and talent was truly nurtured. The culture seems to have turned to consider talent as a commodity that can be replaced as needed.
