GoDaddy was a good place to work.

Former Employee - SQL Developer in Scottsdale, AZ

I worked at GoDaddy full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The work environment was positive, and the management (that I dealt with, at least) was competent and receptive to input/suggestions. Colleagues seemed to be well-chosen, and were pleasant to work with.

Cons

I don't have a lot of cons to list about working here, except perhaps that there was a bit more bureaucracy than I would have liked, but that's hard to avoid in larger organizations.

    Pros

The benefits are amazing. 3 weeks pto first year up to 6 weeks after year 5, full medical/dental.
Uncapped "bonus", you can make thousands weekly if you're good at selling.

    Cons

You feel like a commodity. There are hundreds of people trying to move up into a few positions. I've seen some amazing managers/supervisors leave and their position was filled within a day.
Transitioning from the call center to corporate is extremely difficult to do. It is a call center so the job itself is very draining.

    Advice to Management

It is not all about the amount of time someone puts in. Someone who comes in with years of experience and degrees is generally going to bring in better, more solid ideas than someone who spent the last five years on the phones dealing with customer after customer. Look outside the box.

Cool place to work. Great Vacation. Challenging but overall working experience depends on your manager.

    Pros

Good pay for Engineers. Great benefits. Unbeatable Vacation time at 4 weeks after your first year and 6 weeks after 5 years, especially for Phoenix Metro area! Flexible work schedule, possibility to work from home permanently for "privileged" people. Most engineers can work from time-to-time from home. Overall an "above average" to "very good" place to work.

    Cons

Stressful often and "Very stressful" for some months of the year. Many people "tire out" quickly depending on which group they are in. Your work life depends on your manager's management style. Could be too challenging for some people, for most people you don't move around you could start in the wrong group and end up miserable. If you end up in a cool spot you should stay there but will sacrifice learning new stuff and possibly your career goals.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more consistent about management style and flexibility For example. if a team member works from home all members should be allowed to work from home, no questions asked or special requests required. Management should only require "extra hours" on special occasions like a very important deployment, It should not be considered the "norm"or expected to work 55-60 hours a week just to finish low or medium priority projects, this ruins morale, especially when more staff should be added to a team.
