I worked at Golden Living full-time

    Pros

There are some very competent and caring people who work there.

    Cons

Golden Living Centers are run by fear and intimidation. The facilities' political structures consist of junior high school like cliques. If you're in, you're in. If you're not, then you're the next potential sacrificial scape goat. Corporate is out of touch, each facility is controlled by the administrator who has their own version of how a facility should be run, in some cases administrators are bullied and the facility is run by a senior level clique. So, the level of care for patients is a coin toss. They've giving Golden Living a nice white-wash, but it's the same old Beverly on its' underbelly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow a pair, take control over the facilities and be consistent. Create an atmosphere of professionalism instead of fear and cover up. Strike a balance between the bottom line and decent care, instead of profit, profit, profit. On example is not cramming in skill nursing patients with incontinent Alzheimers patients.

I have been working at Golden Living full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good floor staff. Decent teamwork. Staff provides quality care. Residents and their families are well taken care of.

    Cons

No raises and benefits cost more while offering less. Top heavy with management. Poor planning and implementation of new procedures. Policies seem to change frequently and without warning. Poor communication between management and staff, poor communication between departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fewer management and middle management positions. More floor staff. More effective communication.
