    Pros

Caring staff, good care for residents, some excellent people there!

    Cons

Corporation values - want more and more but won't give staff or money to get it. Example, the fine dining initiative. Management takes time from already impossibly tight schedule to go pass out beverages prior to meals to residents. Why not hire part time kitchen person to do this and more? Keep cutting hours. No raises and benefits shrinking. Cut hours on activities - what are bored residents to do? Not enough staff to entertain them. Have to beg for new wheelchairs and mattresses. Craziness. We cost more to residents than the other two nursing homes in town - one for profit, one not for profit. We are a thousand more a month.

    Advice to Management

Need an open atmosphere. Everything is a secret. All ED's (and have been plenty - what's that about?) have started out telling management they are going to share the budget and expectations, next thing everything is a secret between the ED and DNS. Stop taking the surveys of employee satisfaction and start reading them. And stop making people put in their position. There is only one ED, one DNS, one DCE, one ACU director, and in many smaller places, one RNAC, and so forth. Many management are not comfortable saying how we feel.

    Pros

    Good pay, good working conditions.

    Cons

Little communications, too much talking on cell phones, and no team work.

    Advice to Management

No cell phone call policy enforced, better team work, better organization, talk plainly to all employees, play no favorites and make sure evaluation is just and not hearsay.
