I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

At GS, front office developers always have their hands full - you'll never geeky bored. A long term strategic design and implementation, or a lesser effort short term tactical solution. The hierarchy is largely flat as anyone can contribute to a project as long as he/she can carry consensus on the point. The caliber of colleagues is superior, and their is a strong culture of teamwork. Middle management is willing to listen to you. Pays are best in industry, often to start with, and definitely once you've proven yourself. Often there are opportunities to relocate internally, if there is a good match and a justified business reason.

    Cons

The biggest challenge at GS is to find a good work life balance. Some people end up working very long hours without any regard for the time zone they are physically located in. Firm has tools to support working from home, and one should use these and find a flexible balance that suits oneself.

Heavy work load and pressure, favoritism, No difference in pay for any tech

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You will find highly motivated and talented employees among the pool, and some stones-in-wooden box type(who does nothing but, making noise) managers, leads who always pester the employees.
Brand value in the resume, if feel, but not sure until a get a good job based on this.

    Cons

Heavy work load, Strict time lines, adhoc procedures, No employee benefits( they say every thing is covered in year-end bonus), no team parties, everything will be dutch parties, Working timings range from 12 to 16 hrs a day and 7 days a week( not typo its 7) . Year end bonus is like a carrot and stick. Bonus is based on company performance and managers impression on you, nothing else matters, even if you work more than others and prove yourself, at the end bonus is distributed like a piece of cake with favoritism. The more you talk non-sense to your manager and team meeting, the more you get.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Real work force in tech should be motivated and appreciate for real work they do.
Not some manager who, doesn't know anything and just gives PPTs to upper management.
Treat employee as human being first and then a resource, not like a machine. Judge by impact/work done by employee, not by his manager's year end review which was copy pasted for every one.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
