I worked at Goldman Sachs as a contractor for more than 5 years

Pros

Professional and friendly atmosphere. Everyone knows how to manage their stress levels and not take it out on other co workers.

Cons

No downtime. Work during lunch.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

More time to spend with and listen to support staff. Not all management are the same. I've dealt with really complicated dept heads and really nice ones.

  1.

Great place to work hard, and get paid for it.

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time

    Pros

Smart people, great analyst class, offers a good career path due to its reputation. Its reputation goes a long way in your search for the next job. Provides good training for junior people.

    Cons

Very long hours, pressure from senior people, high turnover of excellent people... seems like the company is losing very good talent quickly. It is a very hierarchical firm especially in investment banking (not so in securities).

  2.

Satisfying experience but not without points of frustration

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Team oriented culture, opportunities for training and development, working environment with talented and diverse individuals, favorable compensation relative to other investment banks, increasingly genuine focus on work life balance

    Cons

As you move up in seniority, advancement in the firm becomes increasingly based on politics as much as ability (or more so in many cases)
