Current Employee - Principal Software Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA

I have been working at Good Technology full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Exciting and growing technology space (mobile, security)
    - Great salary/benefits
    - Snacks and food (although diminishing)
    - Nice devices/laptops provided
    - Easy to get noticed if you are a strong performer
    - Regular "purging" of lower performers. Lots of "restructuring." People "disappear" often.

    Cons

    - Poor hiring choices in many cases
    - Lots of strong performers quit due to being annoyed by C players
    - Product management has vision but lacks focus
    - Controlling, male-dominated engineering leadership "club"
    - No time for planning due to death march releases; fix the bugs on the weekends
    - Lots of mixed messaging (We need 5 star ratings; Cut corners; Quantity over quality)
    - Constantly expanding outsourced footprint to save money (hint: you're not)
    - People get promoted based upon misguided perception, rather than empirical results

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect people. Educate yourselves on what successful companies do to have a healthy and fun culture. I'll be leaving soon. Your loss.
