I worked at Goodwill part-time (more than a year)

Pros

Relatively decent pay for no necessary experience, see lots of interesting things, decent amount of freedom at work, customers are usually friendly, and you are doing something valuable for people.

Cons

Management was rough to deal with at times (ultimately why I left), and the few customers that are bad are really bad.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go easy on the younger employees who are actually working hard for you. Just because we are young doesn't mean you can push us around so much. Also, if you are a manager at a new store, don't tell long term employees that they don't know what they are doing. Each store has a different rate of business.

Great place to work for, just not much room for growth or stimulating to the mind

I have been working at Goodwill part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great environment, other employees, the usual customers that come in, supporting the "mission", friendly.

    Cons

Hardly any appreciation from the upper level staff or senior regional staff. Regional decisions seem to negatively affect the store rather than helping or improving it. Not much growth and the work is hardly stimulating. It's more for those in the "in between" of life, whether it's high school, college, or beyond, that aren't looking for any particular motivation to move up within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees needs and suggestions. Find a way where employees aren't reprimanded for voicing opinions about the company or its management staff.

I worked at Goodwill full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The bond you forn with people you work with because you have to have there support, because everyone felt the same, but scared to say anything, for fear of retaliation.

    Cons

The Company does Not follow their core Values or Mission Statement. Store Managers are abusive in front of customers towards employees and when this is reported you are now a target for fire. All inclusive is a management club ONLY.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come out of the offices and get in the trenches like the little people you work so hard for minimum wage. Oh and I DID NOT hear a choir when The "CHIEF VISIONARY" and his ontarage entered the building.
