I worked at Governors State University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

State job, 6 credit hours of free tuition, good benefits, some positions union. Colleagues are generally friendly and helpful. Weekends and holidays off.

    Cons

Some civil service (union) employees not treated fairly. Paid on anticipatory basis so you get screwed out of a last paycheck after you leave. Family Development Center management is not compassionate towards employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure all civil service empl are treated fairly across all departments and stop the anticipatory pay
