I have been working at Graco

Pros

Pay was decent, work-life balance was usually ok.

Cons

Not very challenging as far as engineering goes. No room for advancement as an engineer -- seemed like people either moved into management or left the company.

I have been working at Graco

    Pros

Great pay & close to home
Good benefits at low cost to the employee
Good product, very competetive in its market
    Advancement opportunities
    Job security
Educational benefits for employees and their families

    Cons

Communication could be improved. Also it would be nice to see capable employees who have experience within the company get promoted from within regardless of whether or not they have a college degree. Experience should still count for something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the office and take the time to visit with the employees on the shop floor. It seems as though Graco management used to be promoted from the shop floor. Since it currently seems to promote more from within its sales and marketing staff, the communication between management and the factory workers has diminished. Getting people to work together begins with getting to know them and realizing they are no different than you.
