I have been working at Graeters

Pros

Great ice cream to eat while working and to take to family. flexable scheduling and an overall easy and fun job.

Cons

MINIMUM WAGE. changes in store managers. cooperate leaders are distant.

there was a lack of supporting and promoting those that do more than what is expected. if you put in more work than your coworkers, you get nothing good, they get nothing bad. recognition is rare and getting promoted would be lucky.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

look better at all of the kids you have working and see who can do more for the company and store as a leader, than as one of the regular pack. many store manager changes is not okay.

    I worked at Graeters

    Pros

A very fun place to work. Customers will treat you well and many recognize you outside the 'office.' You're not just at work: you're supplying them with the treat that is the highlight of their day. Plus, for those with little to no management experience, this is a great way to go from inexperienced to running your own store within a year. Upper management, all the way to the owners, are very easy to talk to and will listen to any employee with a question or concern. You will be visible in the community and your friends and family will be jealous of your job.

    Cons

Very little feedback. Extremely difficult to get help from corporate, which leaves you stuck in the weeds if you have an employee with an illness, or you decide to take a vacation. And when those of you inexperienced managers DO get promoted to your own store, it's likely because the manager you're replacing was either fired or quit out of frustration. Be prepared to be left without help and ready to learn 'as you go' when that does happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They know the issues, but their decisions to replace the emphases on the employee and customer with the emphasis on labor numbers and profit make for a very difficult position to change.

I have been working at Graeters

    Pros

very flexible with scheduling, good place to work as a teenager for a first or second job. not very grueling work and employees were fun to work with.

    Cons

weather plays a big part in determining how busy you will be. so that varies day to day and there are times when you can be short staffed. but if you have a good, hard working team it won't be an issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

i would advise that you offer more opportunities for employees to earn raises to keep the morale up and to make sure that they know they are appreciated when they are doing a good job.
