    After school program keeps the kids in bad neighborhood off the drug infested streets

    Cons

    This place never has much to offer as far as employment. It's who you know NOT what you know in order to get employment here. Most are friendly but the ones that aren't are strangely the ones you have to interact with

    Advice to Management

    Give people that apply from the outside a chance!

    I worked at Grand Street Settlement as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    The potential of helping challenged communities is vast. Good locations and facilities.

    Cons

    Untrustworthy management. Extremely poor communication with employees. Inability to have positive ideas for change implemented. Changing/flexible polices for behavior of employees and participants.

    Advice to Management

    Do not hold failures of management against employees. Allow for "fast-tracking" of new ideas that could revolutionize the centers. Improve communication between immediate supervisors and staff. Notice and reward extra efforts taken by employees.
