I worked at Grand View part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation is good, the hours are flexible, the managers are fair, and the co-workers are friendly. It was a great work environment as a younger person to help me as I continued my education. They would always try and help accommodate me with hours around my class schedules.

    Cons

The bosses tend to micro-manage and vacation/time off request system is poorly managed. There was an 8 hour training session that had little to no information on kitchen jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be patient with new employees. Otherwise keep doing what you are doing!

Make you choose between sick and vacation time

I have been working at Grand View full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Hospital has a good reputation.

    Cons

The HR department does not disclose a very important benefits information during hiring process. Every time an employee calls out sick first day comes out of so called Personal Annual Leave (PAL) time that you accrue for vacation and holidays. If you out sick for more than a day, 25% of it comes out of PAL. The whole policy is rotten in my opinion because one can never predict a sickness. And if you take a vacation and run out of PAL you might and up with unpaid sick time. And this policy is imposed on people working in a hospital where they are exposed to sickness every single day.
They also make employees punch in and out even if you are experienced IT professional. I am surprised they don't force doctors to do the same.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest about your policies during hiring process. But if you want to attract and retain high quality employees perhaps you want to change your policies.
