Pros

good people, working hours are not bad. Partners are aggressive but treat their juniors better than other advisory firm partners.

Cons

GT gets less work compared to their peers or the Big 4

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to add a lot more marketing professionals. Have an arm just for research and putting out thought leadership articles

I worked at Grant Thornton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Offices are run fairly independently. Employees are given a lot of autonomy. The company is very interested in developing employees. The company is very interested in attempting to give employees work/life balance and getting people involved in the community.

    Cons

Things change very rapidly. If you like the status quo, this is definitely not the place for you! Sometimes the lack of support for internal client services makes it difficult to get work done. There is not a lot of collaboration between offices.

I have been working at Grant Thornton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Staff is friendly, but poor morale has them turning on each other too.

    Cons

    Very poor morale
Pay not in line with other similar firms (doesn’t even compare to big 4 even though they always compare themselves to them constantly)
Many unqualified people leading while blaming staff for what goes wrong
    Unorganized and understaffed
    Not much team building

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop blaming staff for mistakes you make. Also, start rewarding staff for working around the clock. A $10 gift card from Starbucks won’t cut it. Realize that you have good people working for you and threats and making big 4 sound like the devil are tactics that will not work. Also stop acting confused when people leave. You know why you leave and it doesn’t seem like you care.
