GreekYearbook – “Great experience. Friendly company to work for.”
Pros
Shooting for about 6 years so far and jobs have been pretty competitive. The line between pay and prestige is tight to say the least. I've taken a few jobs from GreekYearbook over the past two years and I've been pleasantly surprised. My contact, their head photographer, spent ample time making sure I was prepared for the shoot and made sure I was aware of everything I was responsible for going into it. Despite being a little nervous going into a room of 50+ sorority members everything has gone well. They've stressed to me the most important things to take care of during the shoot which turned out to be pretty important. I consider myself pretty organized but without the direction ahead of time, in the midst of all the students and conversation I could easily have missed something.
The pay is fair. From what I can surmise by their website the company is smaller and working to break deeper into their industry. Competition is tough and I think objectively they pay fair overall. I've been compensated for travel and other expenses. They've taken pretty decent care of me.
I'd recommend any photographer with similar experience to work with them. I referred a friend of mine and she's already scheduled to shoot this spring!
Cons
I would have liked a bit more feedback about how well I did and whether my work fit exactly what they were looking for. Having not heard I can only assume I did fine but one could say the opposite as well. Overall though my experience was great.
Advice to Senior Management
Same as the cons, provide a bit more feedback. I can live without it however the more shoots I do the more I'll be interested in knowing.
