Group 1 Automotive – “Group 1 is not a place to advance.”

Pros

Group 1 is the perfect place to go if you are looking to get some job experience. They have numerous turnovers so, it is fairly easy to get hired.

Cons

Group 1 Automotive does not respect there employees. If you are looking for career advancement, then this is not the place for you. Most of the benefits are not really benefits and you can purchase the same types of insurance from outside sources and it would cost you less. Holidays are few and far between and require that you work some of them. In the last couple of years, most of their employees have received pay cuts and the rest have not received raises in years. It seems like there layoffs have all occurred weeks before Christmas. If you are looking for recognition, this is not the place for you.

Advice to Senior Management

With all the cut backs, it would be nice if there was some sort of recognition for all the hard work and extra jobs that we have taken on since, the cut backs. A group email newsletter telling us that we are appreciated and then notifying us of something else that is being taken away, does not constitute a thank you. We have been told over and over by management that our recognition is that we have a job and trust me, with the state of the economy that is greatly appreciated although, an occassional sign of appreciation for all of our hard work would be greatly appreciated. This does not have to be anything monetary but, something personal to us would help bring back morale.
